Due to
hectic schedule of business and service, most of the people become ignorant for
maintaining their health. Modern diseases like Diabetes, Obesity, Heart
Diseases, Stomach Disorders are directly or indirectly related to modern
life-styles.
Why Uric Acid increased?
The
dependence over fast-food (sold in street) or half-baked & processed food
at home; invites various diseases in life. One of the most fearful symptom
among people is Uric Acid Level in body. The high level of uric acid is known
as hyperuricemia when the level becomes more than 7 mg/dL in men or 6 mg/dL in
women. It is must to understand the causes of higher Uric Acid Level. The human
body stays healthy only when balanced diet followed by balance physical work is
adopted in life. The food or diet should be taken in the amount which can be
digested easily or if the food is taken in excess quantity then exercises
should be done at proper time to make is digested.
How digestive system can be a basic cause?
The food
contains crystalline compounds which are broken into purines at the time of
digestion. The digestive system produces waste products which passed through
the kidneys and eliminated through urine. In case, the diet is containing
higher amount of purine, excessive uric acid is produced in waste products and
the kidneys become unable to eliminate higher quantity of uric acid which leads
to either originating new diseases or worsen the existing diseases in body.
Now, it is clear that a person affected with higher uric acids should take food
having minimum quantity of purines and at the same time, he/she should also
adopt remedies to improve the functioning of kidneys or supporting kidneys to
easily eliminate waste products. If it is done, then the uric acids come in the
desired level and diseases start to be disappeared.
The persons
affected with higher Uric Acid Level should stay away from alcohol, smoking,
and fast food normally sold in streets. However it is must to have proper
diagnosis and treatment by a healthcare professional and he/she should try to
improve the metabolism system by adopting home remedies and medicines:
1. Drinking plenty
of water:
The filtering of Uric Acid requires more water or in other words, it is
must to drink more water so that the uric acid be diluted and the kidneys are
stimulated enough to eliminate excess amount of Uric Acid through urine.
Normally, doctors recommend 8 to 10 glasses of water to a patient suffering
from higher Uric Acid Levels.
2. Taking Vitamin-C and
Lemon in diet:
The Vitamin-C helps to neutralize the level of Uric Acid. One glass
lemon juice in lukewarm water in the morning on an empty stomach, can helps a
lot in lowering the Uric Acid Level. The Vitamin C supplements can also be
taken as per the recommendations of a healthcare professional.
3. Consumption of Baking
Soda:
The baking soda lowers Uric Acid Level by helping the kidneys to easily
flush out the waste products. Normally, it is recommended to take one-half
teaspoon in one glass of water in a day however it should not be adopted as a
regularly because it also leads to high blood pressure.
4. Apple cider vinegar:
The acetic acid found in Apple cider vinegar is helpful in breaking the
uric acid crystals and it improves the blood circulation and purification which
also leads to reduction in inflammation and swelling in the joints.
5. Drinking vegetable
juices and eating fruits:
In order to reduce the level of Uric Acid, the carrot juice or cucumber
juice can be taken. The fruit juices can also be taken but the fruit juices are
sweet in nature and will increase the sugar level in body. However it can be
preferred to take fruits rich in fiber and vitamin C like kiwi, guava, oranges,
amla, lemon, tomatoes, bananas, pine-apple etc. Overall the vegetable juices
and fruits help in maintenance of hydration in body.
6. Reduce in-take
volume of sugar:
More the quantity of sugar goes inside, more the burden increased
on kidney to process it. If Uric Acid Level is higher, it is must to reduce the
in-take volume of sugar.
7. Coconut Water and
Green Tea:
Now-a-days, the green tea is preferred instead of black or white tea
because it helps in eliminating the toxics of body. The coconut water increases
the fluid intake and helps in hydration.
Treatments through Medication:
8. Allopathic Drugs to treat Higher Uric Acid Level:
There are three drugs usually recommended i.e. Allopurinol Oral, Zyloprim
Oral, and Probenecid Oral. Each drug has its own benefits, side-effects, dosage
details etc. It is explained in an article [1] that the Allopurinol or Zyloprim
is recommended (300 mg in a day) when the Uric Acid Level is increased due to
dying cancer cells. This medicine is taken after a meal in order to avoid
stomach upset. It is appropriate to drink full glass water after each dose. The
side-effects of this drug are explained [2]. The Probenecid lowers high
levels of uric acid in your body by helping the kidneys to get rid of uric
acid. It may be prescribed in combination with certain antibiotics (such as
penicillins). It increases the levels of antibiotic in the blood, which helps
the antibiotic work better. More details of this medicine are also available
online [3].
9. Ayurvedic
Solution:
A herbal remedy known as Navkarshik Churna [4] is
a combination of herbs to treat higher Uric Acid Level. The ayurveda tells us
to reduce Vaat in
order to balance it in the body. The Neem leaves, Giloy, and Triphala Churna
are also effective to control the higher Uric Acid Level.
10. Homeopathic Treatment:
The homeopathic treatment is totally based on the symptoms available in
the body of patient and the seasonal influences on body. However, there are
three medicines usually recommended i.e. Colchicum (in case of joint pains,
swelling, and muscular weakness), Ledum Pal (in case the pain goes
from downwards to upwards and worsen with pressure), and Guaiacium (in chronic
cases when patients have heat intolerance).
11. Yoga to maintain Uric Acid Level:
The yoga improves the whole metabolism system of the body. It helps in
keeping someone healthy, there are a lot of exercise poses which help in
